Softball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Beats South Fork for Their Fifth Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, St. Thomas Aquinas rose to the challenge on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the South Fork Bulldogs. Considering the Raiders have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lavinia Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, St. Thomas Aquinas got a massive performance out of Sara Wrzosek, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave Wrzosek a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina D'Agostino, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory was the fifth in a row for St. Thomas Aquinas, bringing their record up to 16-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for South Fork, they moved to 17-7 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, St. Thomas Aquinas will face off against Niceville at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. South Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
