Basketball Game Preview: Oakwood Panthers vs. Frankston Indians

The Oakwood Panthers will square off against the Frankston Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Oakwood is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 50-18 loss at the hands of Slocum. The Panthers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Frankston came up short against Martins Mill on Tuesday and fell 39-29. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Mustangs are ranked fourth).

This is the second loss in a row for Frankston and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Oakwood, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Things could have been worse for Oakwood, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-25 loss to Frankston in their previous matchup back in December of 2016. Can Oakwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
