Carroll's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jersey Paul, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 22 points and four steals. Paul has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Cala Haffner was another key player, going 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Southeastern put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They skirted past Plainfield 57-55. The score was all tied up 23-23 at the break, but the Royals were the better team in the second half.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Maya Makalusky and Hannah Menser. Makalusky had a solid game and dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Meanwhile, Menser was balling out in the loss, going 8 of 16 on her way to 24 points and five assists.
Hamilton Southeastern's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Carroll, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Carroll has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Hamilton Southeastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
