Basketball Recap: Douglas Takes a Loss

Douglas played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Spanish Springs Cougars 64-23. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-15.

When it comes to explaining why Douglas lost, don't look at Hailee Koontz. Despite the final result, she posted six points and ten rebounds. Koontz is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Greenfield, who had three points and five rebounds.

With the loss, Douglas broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-8. As for Spanish Springs, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

Douglas will welcome Damonte Ranch at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Spanish Springs, they will head out to take on McQueen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for McQueen: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Spanish Springs has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
