Baseball Game Preview: Stoneham Spartans vs. Swampscott Big Blue

The Stoneham Spartans will square off against the Swampscott Big Blue at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Stoneham and Wilmington meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Spartans skirted past the Wildcats 5-3. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Swampscott and Beverly, and Swampscott kept the tradition alive. The Big Blue walked away with a 9-6 win over the Panthers on Saturday.

Swampscott now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Stoneham, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
