Baseball Game Preview: Granger Lancers vs. West Jordan Jaguars

For the second straight game, Granger will face off against West Jordan. The Lancers will take on the Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Granger had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but West Jordan put an end to it on Tuesday. The Lancers lost 9-2 to the Jaguars. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

For West Jordan's part, they got a great performance from Payton Smith as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brendan Wood was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Ashworth, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

West Jordan is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Granger, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
