Basketball Recap: Erie Comes Up Short at Home Against Arvada West

Erie unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 65-57 to the Arvada West Wildcats on Tuesday. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 53-46 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in March, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Erie lost, don't look at Juliet Slater. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. Reagyn Allen was another key player, going 5-for-6 en route to 11 points.

Macie Ferguson was nothing short of spectacular for Arvada West: she shot 50% from the field to rack up 21 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubri Cespedes, who posted ten points.

Coincidentally, Erie and Arvada West will both be playing George Washington the next time they take the court. The Tigers will head out to face the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Wildcats will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
