Basketball Recap: Hudson Fitzgerald's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Broughton over Sanderson

Broughton lost against Sanderson back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Broughton Capitals fell just short of the Sanderson Spartans by a score of 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Capitals have suffered since January 23, 2024.

Several Capitals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hudson Fitzgerald, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Storm Taylor, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points.

Nathan Fife was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 14 on his way to 27 points for Sanderson. Gordie Balas was another key player, putting up nine points.

Broughton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Sanderson, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Broughton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-50 victory against Enloe on the 24th. Sanderson has also already played their next game, a 63-62 loss against Leesville Road on the 24th.
