Football Game Preview: Merritt Island Mustangs vs. Titusville Terriers + How To Watch

After both having extra time off, the Merritt Island Mustangs and the Titusville Terriers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Merritt Island has given up an average of 31 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Merritt Island is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past ED White 52-49. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly three points.

Kevin Verpaele had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 336 yards and five TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 100 yards on only 14 carries. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (147.9). A healthy portion of Verpaele's aerial production (108 yards to be exact) went to Drew Sarver, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Titusville, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They pulled ahead with a 21-20 photo finish over Melbourne Central Catholic last Friday.

Titusville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-4. As for Merritt Island, their record is now 4-2.

Merritt Island couldn't quite finish off Titusville in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 and fell 17-14. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
