Softball Recap: Port Charlotte Takes a Loss

Port Charlotte lost against Mariner back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Port Charlotte Pirates lost 14-1 to the Mariner Tritons. The Pirates' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Port Charlotte saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylin Pinedo, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Pinedo's first of the season.

Port Charlotte's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Mariner, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Port Charlotte will square off against Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverdale knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Port Charlotte likes a good challenge. As for Mariner, they will face off against Fort Myers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Fort Myers: 3.7, Mariner: 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
