The Mullen Broncos will be taking part in a tournament against the Anselmo-Merna Coyotes at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mullen sitting on ten straight victories and Anselmo-Merna on five.
Mullen's tournament run continued when they took on Brady on Thursday. Mullen secured a 43-39 W over Brady.

It was another big night for Peyton Paxton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayley Donohoe, who almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and nine steals.
Mullen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 21 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Anselmo-Merna beat Sandhills/Thedford 42-29 on Thursday.
Mullen better keep an eye on Shayleigh Coleman. She was instrumental in Anselmo-Merna's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Makenna Miller was another key player, putting up four points along with eight assists and three blocks.
Anselmo-Merna is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Mullen, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mullen has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Anselmo-Merna struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Mullen ended up a good deal behind Anselmo-Merna in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, losing 53-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Miller, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 20 points and eight rebounds.
