Football Game Preview: Anselmo-Merna Coyotes vs. Twin Loup Wolves

Anselmo-Merna hasn't had much luck against Twin Loup recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Coyotes will challenge the Wolves. Anselmo-Merna has given up an average of 38.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Anselmo-Merna made easy work of Burwell and carried off a 58-35 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Coyotes.

Dane Duryea had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 296 yards and six TDs while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, and also throwing for 75 yards and one touchdown. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 64 yards. Colin Wright got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 61 points the game before, Twin Loup was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were dealt a 48-7 defeat at the hands of Central Valley. The game marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Anselmo-Merna's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Twin Loup, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Anselmo-Merna has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 233 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Twin Loup struggles in that department as they've been averaging 193.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Anselmo-Merna lost to Twin Loup on the road by a decisive 38-20 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Coyotes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
