There's no place like home for Wahkiakum, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Oakville Acorns with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. The Mules might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

Emory Filkowski spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Carlson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Parker Leitz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Wahkiakum hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Wahkiakum pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Oakville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wahkiakum will head out to square off against Ocosta at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.64 runs per game on average), something the Mules will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oakville, they will venture away from home to face off against Naselle at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Comets will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Acorns surely won't give up without a fight.
