Football Recap: Southern Lehigh's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Southern Lehigh extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 6-0. They were the clear victors by a 47-27 margin over the Jim Thorpe Olympians. The Spartans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

As for Jim Thorpe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Southern Lehigh is ranked 23rd).

Despite the loss, Jim Thorpe still got an impressive performance from Cole Lazorick, who rushed for 77 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 250 yards and one touchdown. Lazorick was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Lehigh will square off against Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jim Thorpe, they will challenge Catasauqua at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Olympians will be up against the Rough Riders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.17 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
