Recap: Aubrey Rogers Patriots vs. Barron Collier Cougars
The Aubrey Rogers Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. Their rough 83-57 defeat to Barron Collier might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Aubrey Rogers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 604th, while Barron Collier is ranked 176th).
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Lash, who scored 15 points along with four blocks. Another player making a difference was Thomas Zelek, who scored 14 points.
It was another big night for Spencer Clayton, who scored 25 points along with three steals for Barron Collier. Clayton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Gabe Markhart was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Aubrey Rogers has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Barron Collier, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Dunbar the next time they take the court. Aubrey Rogers will head out to face Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Barron Collier will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
