Volleyball Recap: Chalmette Owls vs. St. Mary's Dominican
If Chalmette was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of West Jefferson on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Owls lost 3-0 to St. Mary's Dominican on Tuesday. The Owls haven't had much luck with St. Mary's Dominican recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Chalmette took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-11, 25-12.
Leading St. Mary's Dominican to victory were Aurore Tortorich and Ella Baker. Tortorich had 11 digs and four assists, while Baker had three digs and two aces. KK LaGraize also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.
Chalmette now has a losing record of 10-11. As for St. Mary's Dominican, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 21-1.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Chalmette will take on rival East Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Mary's Dominican is set to square off against their familiar foe Archbishop Chapelle at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
