Recap: Maywood Academy Nighthawks vs. Maywood CES Wolfpack
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sotomayor, the Maywood Academy Nighthawks were happy to have found some success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Maywood CES 74-39 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Maywood Academy has posted yet this season.
Leading Maywood Academy to victory were Edinson Castaneda and Rodrigo Miranda. Castaneda scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Miranda dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 assists. Castaneda continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Fernando Payan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Maywood Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-14. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Maywood CES, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maywood Academy will take on Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Elizabeth is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Maywood CES, they will be playing at home against Sotomayor at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
