East came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Ponitz Career Tech Golden Panthers to the tune of 43-16. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Golden Panthers are ranked 646th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

East found their leader in sophomore Dominique Edwards, who rushed for 110 yards and two scores on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta'John Royster, who gained 98 total yards and a touchdown.

East's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Ponitz Career Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, East will welcome Linden-McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 10, the Panthers 5.5) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Ponitz Career Tech, they will head out to square off against Belmont at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
