Baseball Recap: Cairo-Durham Comes Up Short

Cairo-Durham extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They lost 18-0 to the Hudson Bluehawks. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Hudson, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-7. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

For Hudson's part, Antonio Troy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Troy has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hudson got a massive performance out of Gannon Logue, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The Bluehawks are 6-1 when Logue posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eli Conte, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Cairo-Durham is taking a road trip to take on Pine Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hudson, they will welcome Rhinebeck at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Bluehawks' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Hawks have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
