Baseball Recap: Platte Valley Beats Olathe for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Platte Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against the Olathe Pirates as they made off with a 10-0 win. That's two games straight that the Broncos have won by exactly ten runs.

Hazen Weber was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Cooper Moffatt was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Nick Silvas was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Platte Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matches.

Platte Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Olathe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

Platte Valley has already played their next contest, a 9-5 win against Jefferson Academy on the 4th. As for Olathe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 15-0 loss against Highland on the 4th.
