Basketball Game Preview: Hough Huskies vs. North Mecklenburg Vikings

Hough hasn't had much luck against North Mecklenburg recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Hough Huskies will be home for the holidays to greet the North Mecklenburg Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after five-games, but that won't be the case come Monday.

Hough is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Cuthbertson: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Hough's way against Cuthbertson on Thursday as Hough made off with a 55-31 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.

Hough had a senior duo take command as Sophia Zoerb posted 12 points and three steals and Chloe Galombeck went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points. What's more, Zoerb also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Ka'Leiya Jones, who put up five points.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for North Mecklenburg against Hickory Ridge on Friday as the squad secured a 58-24 victory. Fans of the Vikings have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Hough's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for North Mecklenburg, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.

Hough came up short against North Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in February, falling 63-50. Thankfully for Hough, Boston Bates (who went 10 of 15 on her way to 26 points and six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
