Softball Recap: Churchill Wins Going Away Against Brandeis

Churchill barely beat Brandeis the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers put the hurt on the Broncos with a sharp 8-2 victory on Friday. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Sonia Gres spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Churchill's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Wasiak, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another was Claire Wasiak, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Churchill's record now sits at 11-13-1. As for Brandeis, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Churchill will challenge rival SA Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brandeis is set to square off against their familiar foe Clark at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
