Softball Game Preview: Airport Eagles vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans

The Airport Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Airport is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Airport's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Brookland-Cayce as they made off with an 11-0 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Addie Maynor made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Avery Ingram was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Ridge Spring-Monetta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 15-7 to Wagener-Salley.

Airport's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Everything went Airport's way against Ridge Spring-Monetta when the teams last played back in April of 2022, as Airport made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
