Softball Game Preview: Aiken Fighting Green Hornets vs. South Aiken Thoroughbreds

Aiken is 1-9 against South Aiken since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Fighting Green Hornets will host the Thoroughbreds at 6:00 p.m. Aiken will be strutting in after a victory while South Aiken will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Aiken turned things around against Dreher on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Blue Devils 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Green Hornets have posted since March 24th.

Meanwhile, South Aiken scored first but ultimately less than North Augusta in their contest on Friday. They came up short against the Yellow Jackets, falling 11-3.

South Aiken saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Russell, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI was Russell's first of the season.

Aiken's win bumped their record up to 2-13. As for South Aiken, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 15 of their last 17 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.
