Baseball Recap: East Juniata Takes a Loss

East Juniata extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the Upper Dauphin Area Trojans, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 back in March.

As for Upper Dauphin Area, they now have a winning record of 5-4. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 18-1).

For Upper Dauphin Area's part, Conner Wenrich made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Wenrich also tossed no walks, which is notable because Upper Dauphin Area is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-3 otherwise. Wenrich was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, Karson Engle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Isaac Jackson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, East Juniata will host Lewisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Green Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.63 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Upper Dauphin Area, they will head out to square off against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the WolfPack have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
