On Wednesday Dillon Romig pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The effort marked the fewest earned runs Romig has had since back in March. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his third in a row with less than two walks. On the year, he has an ERA of 2.74 over 7.7 innings pitched.

Even though Romig couldn't lead East Mecklenburg over Independence, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sadly, Romig's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Eagles' five-game streak of wins at home. With the streak broken, Romig and the Eagles surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Friday's match.
