Baseball Recap: Palacios Victorious

While Palacios's win against Yoakum wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Sharks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 2-1. The Sharks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs on Tuesday, too.

Ty Trcka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Palacios' win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dayton Doege, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. Noah West also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Palacios and bumps their season record up to 13-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Yoakum, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9-1 record this season.

Palacios will have a chance to go back-to-back against Yoakum: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
