Recap: Empire Ravens vs. Rio Rico Hawks
The Empire Ravens had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Rio Rico by a score of 21-14. 21 seems to be a good number for Empire as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Empire's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brycen Duncan led the charge by throwing for 171 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Another player making a difference was Kienan Parker, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Empire's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Rio Rico, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Empire will head out on the road to face off against Rincon/University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rincon/University is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Rio Rico will take on Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Cholla is ranked 174th, while Rio Rico is ranked 161st).
