Baseball Recap: Rowan County Finds Home Field Redemption Against East Carter

There's no place like home for Rowan County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let the East Carter Raiders get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Raiders back in April, they had to take a 5-4 defeat.

Not much got past Jayson Ingles, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep East Carter off the board. Ingles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aaron Pennington was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Carson Madden, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Rowan County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for East Carter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-12.

Coincidentally, Rowan County and East Carter will both be playing Scott the next time they take the field. The Raiders will head out to face the Eagles at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Vikings will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
