Basketball Recap: Banneker Comes Up Short

Banneker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lovejoy Wildcats. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 37-31.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lovejoy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Javion Barkley, who went 8-for-16 en route to 21 points. Lovejoy is undefeated when Barkley posts 15 or more points, but 7-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Noah Banks, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 15 points along with five assists and five boards.

Banneker's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Lovejoy, they pushed their record up to 11-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Banneker does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lovejoy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-33 defeat against Langston Hughes on the 12th.
