Football Game Preview: Mead Raiders vs. Heartland Huskies

The Mead Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Heartland Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mead has given up an average of 36.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mead is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since September 27, 2024 on Friday. They took a blow against Shelby-Rising City, falling 56-18. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Mason Reed and Logan Lindsley. Lindsley had a great game and rushed for 144 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries. Meanwhile, Reed did his best for the losing side, rushing for 33 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 137 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Heartland played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 52-16 defeat at the hands of East Butler. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.

Mead will have to keep a close watch on Nevada Gloystein and Brooks Burgess, a pair of players who had a big impact on Heartland's prior game. Gloystein rushed for 130 yards and one score, while Burgess rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Burgess got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 55 yards.

Mead now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Heartland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Mead against Heartland in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 60-18 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Huskies' Carter Siebert, who rushed for 256 yards and one score.
