Softball Recap: Rockcastle County Gets the Win

Rockcastle County had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 14-12-1 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Casey County Rebels 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-5 two weeks ago.

Sydney Holcomb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rockcastle County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addi Lovell, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Macy Spivey also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Casey County, they dropped their record down to 10-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs.

On Casey County's side, Kennedy Neat was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockcastle County will head out to face off against Jackson County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Casey County, they will venture away from home to challenge Lincoln County at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
