Basketball Recap: Pickett County's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Pickett County extended their winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Jacob Amonett. The Pickett County Bobcats strolled past the Stone Memorial Panthers with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 76-62 thanks in part to Amonett, who went 10 for 19 en route to 35 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Stone Memorial had strong showings from Cade Capps, who posted 30 points and five boards, and Jack Cordell, who went 11 of 15 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Capps' 25th in a row with at least ten points.

Pickett County has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Stone Memorial, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-6 record.

Pickett County will venture away from home to challenge Clay County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stone Memorial, they will face off against York Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
