Basketball Recap: Rio Mesa Takes a Loss

Rio Mesa was the 55-42 winner over San Luis Obispo when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Rio Mesa Spartans fell 60-52 to the San Luis Obispo Tigers on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Tigers are ranked 108th).

Rio Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for San Luis Obispo, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

The future could be bright for both Rio Mesa and San Luis Obispo: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Rio Mesa will try to hand Fillmore their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, San Luis Obispo will look to extend Morro Bay's ten-game losing streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
