Football Recap: Peach County Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Peach County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Monroe Golden Tornadoes by a score of 42-34 on Friday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 217th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Ashton Barton, who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 117 rushing yards.

Barton was just one part of a punishing run game: Peach County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests.

Peach County pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.1 points over those games. As for Monroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

After each having a week off, Peach County and Cherokee Bluff will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
