Basketball Recap: Cross Comes Up Short

Cross saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a blow against the Durham Academy Cavaliers, falling 82-35. While losing is never fun, the Stingrays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 271st in South Carolina, while the Cavaliers are ranked 116th in North Carolina).

Durham Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Dorsette II, who made all 5 shots he took for 15 points and six assists. Dorsette II continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quin Frasher, who posted 13 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Cross and nudges their season record down to 2-9. As for Durham Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Cross will take on Clinton in a tournament on Monday. As for Durham Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Concord Christian at 10:15 a.m. on Monday.
