Basketball Recap: DMLK Comes Up Short

On Friday, the DMLK Panthers came up short against the Lincoln Lancers and fell 47-37. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, DMLK still got an impressive performance from Ashley Rodriguez, who posted eight points and seven steals. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed five or more in the last three games she's played. Tay Hugley was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Lincoln found their leader in sophomore Hawa Gueye, who put up 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amina Abdikadir, who scored 12 points.

DMLK's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

DMLK will square off against DSST: Cedar at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln, they will take on DSST: Conservatory Green at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lincoln has five straight victories, DSST: Conservatory Green has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
