Softball Recap: Lawson's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lawson entered their tilt with Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Royals 16-5. Considering the Lightning have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabella Clem was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lawson let Joi Stewart and Katie Greer run wild. Stewart went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Greer went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Stewart has posted since back in March. Makenzie Cotton was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Lawson now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Lawson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-2 win against Glencliff on the 5th. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, they have also already played their next matchup, a 9-4 victory against Hume-Fogg on the 6th.
