Softball Recap: Johnston City Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

While Johnston City's win against Vienna wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 victory over the Eagles on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Zoee Cullum was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Mowery, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Johnston City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Johnston City pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Vienna, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Johnston City will take on Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vienna, they will challenge Cobden at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Appleknockers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
