Baseball Recap: Times Squared Academy Comes Up Short

Times Squared Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-17 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Blackstone Valley Prep PRIDE. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the PRIDE this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 back in April.

As for Blackstone Valley Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

For Blackstone Valley Prep's part, Alex Torres made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Torres has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Alex Quinones was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Adrian Fernandez Jimenez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Coming up, Blackstone Valley Prep will take on Paul Cuffee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Times Squared Academy will be paying especially close attention to the PRIDE's match: after the PRIDE face off against Paul Cuffee, they'll take on Times Squared Academy again at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
