Basketball Recap: Ahoskie Christian Comes Up Short

Ahoskie Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Heritage Christian Academy Patriots. Ahoskie Christian was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Heritage Christian Academy earlier this season, when they won 76-63.

Despite the loss, Ahoskie Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaelen Rascoe almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 53.8% of Ahoskie Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Martin, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Heritage Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nimi Metiko led the charge by putting up 16 points. That's the most points Metiko has posted since back in November of 2024. Parker Buetow was another key player, scoring 13 points.

Ahoskie Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Ahoskie Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-52 win against Unity Christian Academy on the 31st. Heritage Christian Academy has also already played their next contest, a 59-48 loss against Pamlico Christian Academy on the 31st.
