Football Recap: Nandua Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Nandua unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Rappahannock Raiders and fell 65-27. The Warriors lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-0 score last time.

Nandua lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Elijah Parker, who picked up 129 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also rushed for 40 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Juelz Snead, who rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown.

Rappahannock had a senior duo take command as Kenneth Madison gained 113 total yards and Cj Kelly threw for 103 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Madison's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 13th straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Nandua will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Snow Hill at 6:00 p.m. on September 12. As for Rappahannock, they will take on West Point at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
