Basketball Recap: Groesbeck Skates Past Hearne with Ease

While Groesbeck didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 60-14 win over the Hearne Eagles. The matchup marked the Goats' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Groesbeck's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ma'Kya Wells, who shot 50% from the field en route to 22 points and eight steals. Wells is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of AriOnna Thomas, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals.

Groesbeck smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Groesbeck's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Hearne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coincidentally, Groesbeck and Hearne will both be playing C.H. Yoe the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Yoemen at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Goats will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
