Baseball Recap: Lake Howell Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hagerty, Lake Howell was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Trinity Christian Academy Eagles 9-8. For the Silverhawks, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2015.

Nathaniel Grimm made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diego Miranda, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Gage Dunigan, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Lake Howell is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. Trinity Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Howell will head out to take on Hagerty at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hagerty will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Lake Howell surely won't give up without a fight. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up.
