Baseball Game Preview: Foothills Christian Knights vs. Orange Glen Patriots

Foothills Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against Orange Glen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Foothills Christian's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Orange Glen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Foothills Christian nor Coastal Academy made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Knights fell just short of the Stingrays by a score of 5-4. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Trevor Cochrum was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. He has become a key player for Foothills Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 10-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Nottoli, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Orange Glen posted their closest win since March 19th on Friday. They skirted past Tri-City Christian 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Jacob Morales was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Morales was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac Martinez, who got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Adrian Garcia, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and one double.

Foothills Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Orange Glen, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
