Softball Recap: Haddam-Killingworth Extends Winning Streak to Five

Haddam-Killingworth waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cromwell Panthers. Considering the Cougars have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Giaccone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Haddam-Killingworth got a massive performance out of Grace LaConte, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Caley Napoletano was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Haddam-Killingworth's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Cromwell, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haddam-Killingworth will host East Lyme at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.92 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cromwell, they will square off against Westbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
