Basketball Game Preview: Little Village Phoenix vs. Steinmetz College Prep Silver Streaks

The Little Village Phoenix will square off against the Steinmetz College Prep Silver Streaks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Little Village's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home while Steinmetz College Prep has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Little Village is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2024 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 69-37 loss at the hands of Crane Medical.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Barak Hudson, who posted nine points and five steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dion Boyd Jr, who put up four points.

Meanwhile, Steinmetz College Prep came up short against Fenton on Saturday, falling 67-44. While losing is never fun, the Silver Streaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 658th, while the Bison are ranked 293rd).

Little Village's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for Steinmetz College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everything came up roses for Little Village against Steinmetz College Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 56-26 win. Will Little Village repeat their success, or does Steinmetz College Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
