Lake Cormorant is 8-2 against Oxford since August of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Lake Cormorant will take on Oxford at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Lake Cormorant made easy work of Center Hill and carried off a 3-0 win.

While Lake Cormorant won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-21, 25-23.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Oxford and Starkville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Chargers skirted past the Yellowjackets 3-2.

Oxford took Starkville into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-25, 15-12.

Lake Cormorant is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. As for Oxford, their victory bumped their record up to 24-9.

Lake Cormorant beat Oxford 2-0 in their previous meeting back in August of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Cormorant since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
