Basketball Game Preview: Pelion Panthers vs. Strom Thurmond Rebels

Pelion is 1-9 against Strom Thurmond since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pelion Panthers will head out to take on the Strom Thurmond Rebels at 7:45 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Pelion challenged Saluda on Tuesday. Pelion was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to Saluda.

Tyshawn Caldwell put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave him a new career-high. John Berned was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Strom Thurmond was able to grind out a solid victory over American Leadership Academy on Tuesday, taking the game 46-38.

Strom Thurmond has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. As for Pelion, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5.

Pelion beat Strom Thurmond 53-42 when the teams last played on Wednesday. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Strom Thurmond's AJ Walker, who posted 17 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Pelion still be able to contain Walker? There's only one way to find out.
