Soccer Recap: Mashpee Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Mashpee and Ayer Shirley squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mashpee had to settle for second. They fell 2-0 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Mashpee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 195th, while Ayer Shirley are ranked 40th).

Mashpee's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-2. As for Ayer Shirley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-0-2 record this season.

Mashpee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ayer Shirley, they will challenge Rockland on Thursday.
